Actors, AIDS, and Africa. Support This Expedition

This coming Thursday, July 22nd, a delegation from A Minor Consideration will leave for South Africa and Mozambique. Paul Petersen will head the AMC group which includes National Young Performers Chair, Chris M. Allport, Cinematographer, Greg Wilson, and 17 year-old Advocate, Cassidy Boesch. This trip is sponsored by the Africa Millennium Foundation and A Minor Consideration.

The AIDS epidemic in southern Africa is creating millions of orphans as mothers and fathers succumb to this relentless disease. Life expectancy has fallen to pre-1960 levels! Children are now raising their younger brothers and sisters because they have to, and in order to survive, these kid-led orphans are crowding into cities. They are uniquely vulnerable as they fight to survive.

This crisis has led to increased child prostitution, domestic slavery, and increasing numbers of young children entering the underground economy as they struggle to provide for siblings even younger than themselves.

We will be chronicling this expedition, and hope to add our voice to those of Oprah Winfrey and several United Nations organizations. Digital Photos should be posted every day, and we are hopeful our daily AMC African Journal will raise awareness world-wide.
