Monday, August 11, marked the end of public comment on the proposed educational rules changes. As you recall from our announcement last week, the new rules proposed by the Dept. of Labor would have significantly weakened (if not destroyed) the protections in place for the education of children in Entertainment. At that time, we asked you to FAX the Governor of California and the Labor Commissioner and let them know that you opposed their putting children at risk in this manner.
They got the message! At the end of the day on Monday, we received word that the proposed rules were being rejected. They also asked that we "turn off the FAX protest" that they were receiving. There is no doubt that this decision is due in no small part to those of you who cared enough to help.
We at "A Minor Consideration" want to thank you for this. A studio classroom is difficult enough for kids without weakening the requirements for good, qualified teachers. You have made a difference in this, a difference that will help these kids for years to come.
Please do keep checking back here for issues of this type - there will certainly be times in the future that we need help such as this. With caring, concerned people such as you on our side, we can't lose!
