SAG ELECTION DISPUTE

The attack against the recent SAG election went far beyond the initial call for the election to be re-run.Challengers sought to remove Melissa Gilbert from her office. Even their own lawyers balked and, despite what you may have seen in the Press, Melissa Gilbert IS the President of Screen Actors Guild. Paul Petersen, acting solely as a member of SAG, has filed a "Formal Request for a Hearing" into what he believes is an unconstitutional abuse of the Committee process with the sudden claim of the Hollywood Elections Committee that they are, in fact, the National Elections Committee. Four of the five members of this Committee are public supporters of losing candidate Valerie Harper. The National Board of SAG has never authorized this Committee's action, let alone the release of their prejudiced findings."Stay tuned," says Paul Petersen. "The Constitution of Screen Actors Guild cannot so easily be violated."
