He acted in so many films, it took so much time of his childhood. The parents got enough from him. They had a proper live with many advantages . Now, it´s time, that Mac saves HIS Future. He will need the money.
Many people don't realize that a child working in a film is working. The cost really is a childhood.

I totally agree that his parents should "tone down" their lifestyle. If they have to use Macaulay's money, then it just goes to show they are not capable of supporting themselves or the present lifestyle they are used to. Most people in the world have to work just to make ends meet, much less spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year! ... I think what Macaulay is trying to do is very mature and should be admired, but they should not buy a $1.9 million dollar home! come on, get real! Its a total shame what is happening to him and his family. I wish them the best. Good Luck Macaulay!

It's Macaulay's money, not Kit or Patricia's. He's the one who worked to earn it, he should have the benefit of his trust when he reaches majority. It's not unreasonable to use a modest portion of the trust to secure proper housing for the family. Perhaps a low-interest loan from the trust to Kit and/or Patricia until such time that they choose to become income-earning adults themselves?
Both Jeremy and Paul make the point - which everyone appears to agree with - that no one wants to see the parents on the street. Remember, however, that the parents have already had access to a manager's cut of Macaulay's earnings. That they are now needing money from the trust fund indicates an extreme inability to manage money.

I believe the money is the main source of contention between the parties. The custody battle should be settled first. Mac is not the only child who earns money. Kieran recently made several movies. Certainly the parents should take responsibility for their own children. If both are incapable, then Mac and Kieran should spend their money elsewhere. Also, there are rumors of Mac behaving in an unruly fashion. If this is due to his dysfunctional family life, I don't think money is the answer. One thing: I'm sure glad I don't have to decide the case! I wish Macaulay, Kieran, and the family the best.
