House Bill 2838 Wins Passage in Kansas Legislature

House Bill 2838 won passage in the Kansas Legislature on April 29th, 2000, and is now on its way to Governor Graves.

This Bill, sponsored by Representatives Mays and Sharp and Senator Lana Oleen, changes the ownership of money earned by children in the entertainment industry in Kansas, to the child who does the work, and sets aside 15% of the earnings in Coogan Accounts, and also prohibits the hiring of Premature Infants without signed authorization that the newborn is Full Term and Full Birth Weight plus 30 days.
