WABC-TV - More than a dozen men from New Jersey were arrested in a nationwide child pornography sting. Officials say some of the victims were just infants. Some details are so graphic, they cannot be repeated.

Eyewitness News reporter Sandra Bookman has the story from the Newark Federal courthouse.

They dubbed it "Operation Emissary." It began in New Jersey more than a year ago with the officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but it quickly spread to 22 states.

The focus was an extremely graphic website and its subscribers, many of whom are convicted child predators and pedophiles.

"This type of depraved conduct is something that a civilized society just cannot tolerate," U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie said.

Christie announced the arrest of more than 125 people nationwide for what he calls "hardcore child pornography."

"I'm talking about child pornography which involves children as young as six months old," Christie said.

Seventeen of the arrests were made in New Jersey. Among those taken into custody were a student, a clinical researcher and a chef. At least three law enforcement officials were also charged.

"These are all individuals who subscribed to a hardcore child pornography Web site," Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark McCarren said. "They are individuals on whom we executed search warrants of their residences or places of business. They are all charged with either possession or receipt of child pornography."

Much of the language describing the photos and the videos in the criminal complaint is so graphic, it can't be printed here. But one line, "a pacifier is visible in the prepubescent's female's mouth," shows just how young and vulnerable these children are.

The complaints include graphic descriptions of a wide variety of sexual activity involving young children, many of them infants, including sodomy and bondage.

The U.S. Attorney says the investigation is ongoing. Christie will not disclose what Web site or sites are involved. He will only say he expects dozens and dozens more arrests.
