For Shelley

We're thinking of you, Shelley

We love you!

Thanks to all who have left their heartfelt messages to Shelley.

My best wishes to you, Shelley. I think you are a good actress and you seem like a very nice person. I liked you on "The Donna Reed Show". You worked well together with Paul, (and in a few shows with Patti). You were great on "One Day At A Time." I truly admire Paul for the work he's doing, and for giving me this chance to send a message.

I used to always watch you and Paul on "The Donna Reed Show" and my fondest memories are hearing you both sing "Johnny Angel/She Can't find Her Keys" on the show. I've got Paul's CD and hope to get yours too someday thru Columbia House. I have your albums with "Things We Did Last Summer" and lots of others. I used to always watch "Coach". My prayers are with you to get well soon. Your fan,

Shelley, I can't believe I'm writing to you. What a wonderful giving person you are. (Plus my husband and I truly enjoyed you and Crait T. Nelson in "Coach". We went through withdrawls!) I don't know if you'll ever get to read all of these great notes to you, but I hope so. The Lord bless you each day, and be sure to eat lots of fresh veggies, and use a juicer with all the appropriate vegetables, and drink that wonderful stuff. It can't hurt and sometimes has helped cure people of awful illnesses, so do a search or go to Jamba Juice daily or more and get it made fresh. Check out the book: "The Complete Book of Juicing" by Michael T. Murray. Look up illnesses in the index and it tells what veggies to juice. Also Colloidal Silver and Pycnogenol. Read about these online. Wonderful things. CS kills everything it comes in contact with and Pycnogenol is proven to be 60 times more powerful than Vitamin E, and to cure over 80 diseases! I'd better go, check this stuff out. It has really helped us. God Bless you Shelley, and remember, He truly loves you and cares about everything you're going through. Just ask Him to be near you, and He'll be right there. :) In Christ,

Shelley, You don't know me but we know people together. I had a crush on you way back and I've had respect for you all along as the kind of person that really should represent Hollywood. Damn I hate illness. It's hard to be tough when you're sick and the future looks uncertain. In my life I've found the strength to face it through the love of my friends and family, and a deep faith that the universe has a plan and I'm part of it. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Perhaps a little of that energy will reach you. Surely all the love I see on this site will reach you and help transform the fear into a new vision.

Shelley, I must lead a very sheltered life. I was volunteering at the Donna Reed Festival this past week. I coordinated the Lets Do Lunch and a few of my volunteers told me you were having a liver transplant. Then Paul announced at the Final Competition that you were doing well after the liver transplant and that you would be back next year. I was very shocked to hear this and hope all is well with you. This was my first year at the Festival, we just moved here two years ago this August. My prayers are with you and I cannot wait to meet you and work with you like I did with all the other wonderful people here in Denison. We had a great week at the Festival but we sure missed your smiling beautiful face. I did get the pleasure of meeting you in Denison in 1995 when we were visiting but now I get the pleasure of helping out every year. A very speedy recovery to you and God is Watching You and Keeping you in the Palm of His Hand. You are in everyones prayers here in Denison. We love you Shelley. Love Alison

I wanted you to know how your acting roles and your singing, yes your singing, uplifts. I work with teens in helping them see their true potential and sometimes I have doubts about how helpful I can be. Music has always been a stress reliever for me and yesterday I lit a candle and put on "The Best of Shelley Fabares", put on the headphones and went into another world. The arrangements of your songs are beautiful and of course "Ronnie" has always been one of my favorites. "Johnny Angel", "Welcome Home", "He Don"t Love Me" and "I Know You'll Be There" stand out. Dear Shelley, I am so sorry to hear about your illness. I found this website looking for some old Elvis stuff. I know your tired of hearing that. I remember alot of your work. I'm surprised they never had you and Elvis sing together considering how nice a voice you have. I also remember you from "One Day at a Time". I hope that your recovery is going well. I always thought that of all the girls in the Elvis movies, that you and him had the most on screen chemistry. You were also the prettiest. You had some pretty tough competition in that category as you know, but you still came out on top. I'm also a fan of your husband Mike. It looks like his career is taking off again and I couldn't be happier. He was great in "Mash" and filled some big shoes and is also fantastic on "Providence". People only remember your big hit song "Johnny Angel", but you also made lots of other great songs like "Love Letters", "A Boy of my Own" and "Lost Summer Love". You are loved by many fans such as myself and I hope you continue to do more TV guest appearances or another network series which would be just great.

My admiration and good thoughts of your decision to go through with the transplant are magnified by my friends' battle with an autoimmune disease that left her to ill to live after battling it for 10 years. I am a blessed, 52 year old kidney transplant recipient. I know your road to recovery is more involved than mine has been, but it really does get better - - - promise! I personally challenge you to be at the 2002 Transplant Olympics! Here's to our wonderful meds! Heartfully yours, Debbie

Dear Shelley, It's so wonderful knowing that so many, many people love, respect and admire you as I have for so many years. The Donna Reed Show is my all-time favorite; I'm collecting all the memorabilia I can off the E-bay site!; Donna Reed - well, what can one say about how special she was?; Paul Petersen was and is and always will be my main teenage crush; and you, Shelley, seem to fall into the same category as Donna Reed -- there aren't enough words to express how special you are, even to those who don't really "know" you. "Girl Happy" is my favorite Elvis/Shelley movie (love "Spring Fever"!); "Johnny Angel" makes me glow every time it's on (I also have the Teenage Triangle albums and your CD's). Your singing has brought pleasure to so many people for so many years -- I thank Mr. Owen for making you sing! I hope you are as touched by all these heartfelt wishes by so many admirers as you have touched so many others over the years. You're a special lady, Ms. Fabares -- you and your special friend, Annette, are my favorites and are such an inspiration to oh so many. Bless you and yours, and thank you for all the wonderful entertainment you've given and for all the wonderful entertainment you'll continue to give.
Love and hugs,

I never knew you had been ill until I read it in our Toronto Sunday Sun yesterday. You were always one of our favourites, you had such a nice voice - I don't know why the only song I heard you record was "Johnny Angel", but that was great. Just also loved you on "The Donna Reed Show" and on "Coach", I really enjoyed your character. Of course, you were really too good for Hayden (I can never forget the episode when your wedding dress got thrown in the fire). It was so sad, but so very, very funny. I hope you fully recover shortly and all the best of health, wealth and happiness.

Hi Shelley! So sorry to hear of your recent illness. I've been a fan of yours for years and grew up watching you on "One Day At a Time", (You should have been nominated for an emmy). You made that show. You were so funny with your one liners and your delivery. I know you've had so many successes, most recently with "Coach".(You should have won the emmy). Anyway, I'd like to wish you good health and happiness and much success in all of your future endeavors. You are truly a beautiful woman inside and out and you deserve only the best. Your tireless charity work for Alzheimers and "The Donna Reed Foundation" and your strong devotion to your friends and family are something to be proud of. Dear Shelley, I hope you are feeling better and getting healthier every day. I was so sorry to hear that you had been ill and had to have surgery. I want to let you know that I will say a prayer for you and send healing vibrations your way for a fast recovery. I have been a fan of yours for a long time. I loved you in the Annette episodes on the Mickey Mouse Club, The Donna Reed Show, Cowboy In Africa, Coach, and the Elvis movies. I collected the Teenage Trios cds you, James Darren, and Paul Peterson made. James and Paul are some of my favorite people also. I am so sad when I hear about how your friend, Annette, who is another one of my favorite people, is having her own health problems. I was such a great fan of some of your co-stars, such as Elvis and Bill Bixby. I will always miss the loss of their talent. I guess it is only what we must expect when our generation starts aging, that we will have some health problems. Just remember that you are highly regarded by many fans out there, and you are not forgotten. We loved your song, Johnny Angel and your performance in Hold On with another of my favs, Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits, was fantastic. I worked at a group home awhile back, and the residents and workers all loved to dance to Johnny Angel, and the flip side of my 45, Johnny Loves Me. We were all baby-boomers, and we still love you. I try to watch you in everything I can and am collecting memorabilia of you. It brings back happy memories of my childhood. I expecially love my TV Stars Sing cd with you on it. You had such a beautiful voice and were so pretty. I had to be born ordinary, but you were one person I always admired and wished I looked like. I had three people I wanted to look like. They were Jane Seymore, Ann Margret, or you. You three women seemed so sexy to me over the years. Well, I wish you the best, Shelley, and I hope to see you on TV or in movies again soon. As you have probably guessed by now, we viewers at home see you as one of our friends. I feel like I know you somewhat, after seeing so much of you over the years. You gave me much pleasure as I grew up. You were like the girl next door and Ricky Nelson the boy next door. You two were the two people I would have loved to have lived near me. Tony Dow wouldn't have been too bad either. The 50's and 60's give me great memories and I am glad you were a part of it. Hang in there and best wishes for a complete recovery. Love, from one of your best fans.

I know you have been critical of yourself as a singer, but I recently purchased a reissue of your first album and I think you sound just fine!!! Your positive spirit and enthusiasm will carry you far. You must now realize through this website how many lives you have touched over the years and I thank you for giving so much of yourself. Peace and HEALTH!

Dear Shelley, My very best wishes to you for peace through your recovery journey and life as a transplant recipient. I join with the many others on this list regarding the happy memories of your young acting years, songs, and later TV successes. But you've had my admiration and respect as a caring and compassionate human being ever since I read about your determination--as a new step mom many years ago--to make certain that your stepchildren would have the love and energy of four parents, not just one or two. I trust that your energies in that regard have helped them to be strong adults. That is the richest legacy I could wish for you.

Miss Shelley, I have truly enjoyed you and your work in the entertainment business. I watch the reruns of "Coach" every morning on UPN here in Chicago. I figured out that if I start my day with some humor then the rest of it will be better. I was saddened to hear of your health problems and most recently your transplant. But I hope you know that so many of us are praying for you and your full recovery. Health is a gift that we take for granted and anyone who's ever been ill will tell you that all the money in the world means nothing if you don't have your health. My brother had non-hodgkins lymphoma earlier this year, I lost an uncle to pancreatic cancer in July and now my mother in law is in hospice care. It is hard to be sick but with love, support and prayer you will pull thru and be a stronger person for it. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Miss Fabares: I recently heard about your transplant on the "Regis" show when Craig T. Nelson was a guest and asked the audience to pray for you. It is obvious that he and all the crew from the "Coach" television program are your family and concerned about you and share the belief that love and support are all it takes to get us through the tough times. Shelley, I just prayed for you, and will continue to. I want you to know how much we feel you are much more than just a celebrity, but a "real person" who cares deeply about other people's pain. I think of you more often for what you have done to help people coping with struggles, than all your years in showbiz. I hope you are healing and getting well, and know that we are just a few of the people that have found this website, and there are countless more who feel as we do. I am glad that Craig Nelson mentioned you on "Regis". I hadn't turned on televison much this past year. We are glad that we are aware of your condition so we can pray for you. All good things for you Shelley. If God be for us, who can be against us.
God Bless you,

Dear Shelley, I want to send you my sincerest thoughts and prayers for a full recovery following your liver surgery. I have to admit that I have had a crush on you since I was a kid (now I'm 53) and followed your work from "The Donna Reed Show", "Brian's Song", "One Day at a Time", "Coach" and many other things including one of my all time favorite songs, "Johnny Angel". You have always come across to me as a genuinely nice human being in a profession that sometimes I'm sure makes it tough. Your husband is a lucky man and I'm sure he knows it. My wife and I love his work on "Providence" and enjoyed him so much on "Mash" for years. In closing, I would again like to wish you a full recovery and you have my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,

Hi Shelley, I'm sure you don't remember me but we were at the health spa together in Ojai, around April 1987. And we did speak a few times in some of the classes. I just found out 3 years ago I have Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC). This is an autoimmune disease that affects the liver, the only treatment being a liver transplant, so I have been following your recent health problems as best I can. Please know that we wish you full recovery and a long healthy, happy life. If you feel the need to talk to people who have been where you are, email me. Take care and please try hard to get well. Many prayers go out to you.

Shelley, My prayers and thoughts are with you. I grew up watching you and Paul and always loved telling people you were my sister and brother. My maiden name is "Stone" and my real sister's name is Shelley! I had the great joy of meeting Paul this summer and he spoke of you with such care and love. My own husband is gravely ill and I know what it's like to wish you could do more for the one who is ill. All I can do is offer my love, devotion and support. Dearest Shelley, You are my big sister even though you will never meet me. I so admired Mary Stone and your other roles. I am 49 and hated my name until I saw you and it was perfect because I loved Donna Reed and to be her daughter, even acting was a dream to a girl from a very disfunctional family. Even though I no longer spell my name with the added "E", I am still a Shelley sister in spirit. I can only wish that you try to visualize this painful time as soon to be passed and put your mind in the most beautiful places you've been with those you love near. Feel the love and embraces on your soul from all of us out here who cherish your being, your work and how you represented us as real women. Much, much love,

Dear Shelley, I heard Craig T. Nelson mention your recent surgery and I was struck by the news. A sudden rush of memories, not only of "Coach", but all the way back to Disney, Donna Reed and The Annette Series. I'm 53 and feel like we went through the same era together. Please know how much you are in my thoughts and prayers. Our daughter graduated from USC in Drama back in 1992. I told her then that there are truly classy actresses that evolve, change, grow, and continue to choose roles that reflect intelligence in women, ethics in humanity, and the real joy of the acting business, which can be so cruel. Your name was one of those I gave as examples of truly classy actresses. Though I do not know you personally, I do know you through the roles you have chosen. I remain one of your longest and sincerest fans. My very best to you, now and always. Can't wait to see you again, if you choose. Please let me and others know your favorite causes so we may make a significant donation in your name. Thanks for all the years of quality entertainment! Love,

Dear Shelley, Your buddie Craig T. Nelson says you are ill and need a smile. Well that's fair because you have given me so many of them. "Coach" worked because of Christine.
