South Asian March Against Child Trafficking
June 21, 2007
Dear Friends,
First of all, I would like to share with you the grand successful South Asian March Against Child Trafficking. The one month long physical march traversed through villages, towns, and along the Indo-Bangladesh border, Nepal and India. More than 7,000 children and adults participated in the grand culmination ceremony on March 22, 2007 in front of Parliament in New Delhi. The Indian Minister of Labour and Employment was the Chief Guest of the Culmination Ceremony. Further, on April 3, 2007, the marchers submitted a report of their experiences and recommendations to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit to end trafficking of children for forced labour.
In solidarity,
Kailash Satyarthi
Chairperson, Global March Against Child Labour
