Through every gate and gable
Time shifts, slips lifeless away,
As the ever-blackening clouds
In the chilling wrought-iron sky
Flee, like animals panicked by fire.
And the questions, conflicts unresolved
Remain a bitter, eternal legacy.
Spare them, tiny heirs of this world.
Show them puppies, kittens, mud and sunshine,
And guard their fleeting slumber.
