Corey Haim

Former teen idol, Canadian-born actor Corey Haim, 38, died at 3:30 AM on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, apparently of an accidental drug overdose, according to the North Hollywood Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank. An autopsy determined that he died of natural causes, due to pneumonia.

He was at home with his mother, Judy, who summoned police after he appeared to be unresponsive to her efforts to revive him.

He shot to stardom (and became a teen heartthrob) in the 1986 film "Lucas" and in 1987's "The Lost Boys," along with another Corey, named Feldman. The two then went on to star together in "The Two Coreys," which ran on A&E from 2007 to 2008, and got him nominated for a Viewer's Choice Award at the 22nd Annual Gemini Awards in his native Canada.

The death of anyone is indeed a tragedy, but it’s made even more so, when the passing of someone is termed, “preventable.” So, we need to again stress that if you (or anyone you know) is struggling with a drug addiction, please contact us immediately, so we can help direct you to other folks who care about you as much as we do, and who can help. Many of our members have successfully kicked their own drug addictions, and stand ready to do whatever it takes, to help you with yours. All you have to do is ask. Our advice and counsel is free, and we won’t ever judge or scold you, we promise.

We offer our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family, friends and many fans who knew, loved, and will greatly miss Corey Haim.
