SAG Members Elect Melissa Gilbert as President in Re-run Election

Los Angeles – In national voting completed on Friday March 8th, Melissa Gilbert was elected 23rd Screen Actors Guild President, with Elliott Gould elected as Recording Secretary and Kent McCord named as Treasurer.
Melissa Gilbert received 21,351 of the 37,742 ballots cast for President. Her opponents were SAG National Board members Valerie Harper, who garnered 12,613 votes, Eugene Boggs, who received 2,178 votes and Angeltompkins, who received 1,010 votes.
"Our membership has once again spoken. I'm honored to have been trusted by the SAG membership. With the rerun of the election now behind us, I welcome focusing on the crucial issues at hand including the proposed ATA agreement, which is being voted on by the Board Of Directors on Monday, and the May 1st enforcement of Global Rule One," states President Gilbert.
The position of Guild Recording Secretary was won by Elliott Gould, who received 19,792 votes, defeating challengers Kevin Kilner, who received 12,953 votes, and Renee Aubry, who received 3,728 votes.
The position of SAG Treasurer was won by Kent McCord, who received 16,539 votes, defeating challengers Amy Aquino, who received 15,180 votes, and Kathleen Haigney, who received 4,460 votes.
A total of 91,054 ballots were mailed to eligible voters nationwide on Monday, February 11th. By yesterday's deadline, 37,742 ballots, or 41.4% of the total, were returned. This represents one of the highest returns of election ballots in the Guild's 69-year history, with the past highest percentage of record being the 1985 election of then-SAG President Patty Duke, in which there was a 34% return. The current results mark a significant increase over this past November's election of National Officers, which received a 28.1% ballot return.
