Todd Bridges, Our Newest Hero

James and Todd Bridges

The members of A Minor Consideration are busting with pride thanks to the quick-thinking actions of our friend and 'classmate, Todd Bridges who, along with his brother James, rescued a wheel-chair bound woman from drowning when her electric wheelchair lurched into Balboa Lake on April 12th, 2001.

Todd and his family were fishing nearby when they witnessed the accident and in seconds both Todd and his brother leaped into the lake and pulled Stella Kline, 50, from certain death, muscling the woman and her overturned wheelchair onto the shore. Ms. Kline was buckled into her chair and would have drowned in the shallow lake.

Todd's modesty in his role as a hero speaks volumes.

"We felt God put us there at the right time to save this lady's life because there was nobody else around." Ancient oriental wisdom says, "Life leads a thoughtful man on a path of many windings." God is a part of Todd's life in sobriety, and in his heart.

We noted with particular disgust how some of the press coverage referenced events from years ago and failed to mention Todd's serious work serving his community, but as many of us know all too well, that goes with the territory.

Todd Bridges saved a life. He met the challenge. That's wonderful.

Congratulations to you, Todd. These new chapters of your life make all of us swell with pride.
